John McGlynn on 'different class' Falkirk ace after Aberdeen victory

John McGlynn on ‘different class’ Falkirk ace and Aberdeen victory.

Falkirk manager John McGlynn hailed full-back Ryan Strain as “different class” after the emergency signing put in another fine Falkirk performance on Wednesday night.

The Bairns earned a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie to make it three wins on the spin in the Scottish Premiership for the first time since 2008, with substitute Ben Krauhaus scoring the winner in the second half.

And the Brentford loanee finished off former Dundee United defender Strain’s low cross - which took his assist tally to five already for Falkirk having played just 11 fixtures.

The Australian international has the second-best record in the top flight for chances created, sitting only behind Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren. His assist figure has him joint-top in that list too.

John McGlynn hails Falkirk ace after Aberdeen win

Speaking after the 1-0 win, boss McGlynn told the Falkirk Herald when asked if Strain’s immense form has gone under the radar: “Absolutely. Ryan has been one our top players I would suggest.

“Since he has came in, he has been different class. The assists he has racked up is impressive. Ryan has been a total find - I have already been over it so many times but we didn’t want to have three right backs, but it has worked out. He has made the jersey his.”

Reviewing his in-form side’s performance, he added: “I’m delighted to win, obviously. It wasn’t a classic by any stretch of the imagination. A gritty, ugly three points for us, but well earned. We battled, we scrapped, we fought, we did the dirty side of the game game quite well, and we rode our luck at times in the second half.

“There were a couple of balls that broke for Aberdeen in the goalmouth, and you’re just waiting on it hitting the back of the net. I don’t know if it’s been our players or whatever, we’ve managed to block the ball going in the goal.

“If it had ended 0-0 I don’t think we would have been complaining but I’m absolutely delighted that we sneaked it. It’s a great finish from Ben (Krauhaus), and three wins in a row in the Premiership is not easy to come by for a club like Falkirk.

“We managed the game well. And we have had issues with late goals. The Aberdeen fans wouldn’t have liked us taking it to the corner, and I get it totally, but there is a skill to doing that. The game management is great.

“We didn’t manage to do that last season in the league, so I am delighted that we have managed to do it now. We’re on a good run now with momentum and confidence building.”

The boss also said that losing left-back Leon McCann was a “blow” and that the full-back could be out for a period of time. Scott Tanser came on for after McCann picked up a thigh injury.
