DVSA hope Falkirk Council do not put the brakes on new driving test centre
Plans are in motion to create a much needed driving test centre in the Falkirk area.
The Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) lodged an application with Falkirk Council on Tuesday, October 27, looking for permission to make changes at the Haypark Business Centre, Marchmont Avenue, Polmont.
The DVSA want to turn rooms 20, 39 and 40 at the premises into a Driving Test Centre.
According to the online planning documents room 20 has been vacant since October 2025, room 39 since April 2025 and room 40 has since May 2026.

The documents stated: “The DVSA are currently facing significant challenges related to booking driving tests and, at present, the demand to book tests disproportionately outweighs the quantum of tests available locally.
"The DVSA is therefore actively and urgently working to invest in new test centres to address the growing demand for driving tests, with a particular focus on areas where there is particularly high demand or where current test centres are oversubscribed.
“The proposed use would help to repurpose these vacant rooms at Haypark Business Centre which would help to address an urgent need locally for new driving test centres and would also bring the floorspace back into active use and retain this part of the building in an employment use.
“In terms of vehicle parking provision, there are 10 car parking spaces available on the site for the DVSA staff and candidates. Additional parking is available in other parts of the business centre for visitor parking.
"This is deemed to be a sufficient amount of car parking spaces to accommodate the operational requirements of the staff and candidates.”
