McMenamin has been drafted in by new Cumbernauld manager Kieran McAnespie as the club continues preparations for their first season as a senior club in the pyramid system.

Cumbernauld, who have also signed former Clyde captain Kevin Nicoll, will play in the new West of Scotland League, which will operate in Scottish football's sixth tier and feed into the Lowland League.

McMenamin (39) got the Stenhousemuir manager's job in November 2018 in succession to Brown Ferguson, following an interim spell in charge which included a memorable Scottish Cup win over Falkirk. But he was axed last September, following the Warriors' relegation at the end of the previous season.

He began his senior career at Newcastle United, followed by spells at Livingston, Falkirk (loan), Shrewsbury Town, Gretna, Livingston (loan), Dundee, Queen of the South, Ross County, Morton, Celtic Nation and Stenhousemuir.

He also had a spell at Ayrshire junior side Hurlford United after leaving Ochilview.
