'Hide all you want': Dunipace offender tells ex to 'stop playing games'

A short relationship came to an angry end with an offender telling his ex to “stop playing games” and then accusing her of hiding away when he came round banging on her door.

Before that, David Crawford, 28, bombarded his former partner with phone calls and messages – including around 20 messages in the space of a few days – and even shouted and swore at her little sister during one visit to her address.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Crawford had pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive of his partner in Wallace Crescent, Denny and elsewhere from February 23 to June 6.

The procurator fiscal depute said: "The witness and the accused had been a relationship but decided to end it in May 2026. The accused then continually tried to phone and message her through voice messages and texts.

"Between May 28 and May 31 the accused sent her 20 messages through Facebook Messenger on personal and business accounts asking her to ‘stop playing games’.

"She started to ignore these messages and the accused was abusive towards her on the phone so she decided to block his number and social media. The accused attended at the witness’s address, banging on the front door, shouting ‘hide all you want’.”

The accused then hurled verbal abuse at his partner’s young sister.

Mark Fallon, defence solicitor, said: “This was a very short lived relationship. He now says he has stopped drinking. He has addiction issues and mental health issues.

"He does have significant previous convictions.”

Mr Fallon added the complainer in the case was due to give birth to Crawford’s baby in December.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane placed Crawford, 328 Stirling Street, Dunipace, on a supervised community payback order for 12 months with the condition he complete 160 hours of unpaid work in that time.

She also made him subject to a non harassment order not to have any contact with his former partner for 12 months.
