Still sad bad lad hits his dad during drunken Dennyloanhead dust up
An offender said to be still grieving the death of his partner showed up at his father’s house and proceed to attack him.
Samuel Best, 29, pulled up at the premises in a taxi with a can of cider in his hand and then got his dad to give him money to pay the cab fare.
When his father told him he should not be drinking at that time in the morning, Best lost his temper and tried to punch him.
Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Best admitted assaulting his father at an address in Glasgow Road, Dennyloanhead on July 6.

The charge stated he attempted to strike his father on the head before striking and kicking him on the body during the attack.
“The witness is the father of the accused,” said the procurator fiscal depute. “It was 8.55 am and the accused attended at the address by taxi and asked the witness for money to pay the taxi.
"The accused had a can of cider in his hand and the witness said the accused should not be drinking, given the time of day. The accused attempted to punch the witness and then threw himself to the floor, refusing to leave.
"He then kicked the witness to the genitals. Police were called and found the accused in the rear garden.”
Defence solicitor Murray Aitken said: “He was so intoxicated at the time he has little recollection of events. He has expressed his disgust and shame at the way he behaved towards his own father.
"He has struggled with depression and has never really come to terms with the death of his partner some time ago. He was depressed and drunk at the time.”
Addressing Best directly, Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane said: “Sometimes things happen in life which are pretty awful, but there does come a time when you have to learn how to live a proper life, without trying to assault your father.”
She placed Best, 191 Wallace Street, Falkirk, on a supervised community payback order for 12 months with the condition he completes 130 hours of unpaid work in that time.
