Decision made on Denny housing development after over two years in planning
The local authority has come to a decision over a planning application for new housing that was lodged over two years ago.
Mactaggart and Mickel Homes Ltd lodged an application with Falkirk Council on June 24, 2024, looking for permission to construct 123 “dwellings” on land to the north of Strathcarron Hospice, Randolph Hill, Denny.
Planning officers granted permission on Wednesday, August 12 this year.
According to the online planning documents, Mactaggart and Mickel Homes Ltd want to create 123 homes at an existing residential development site at Carrongrove, in Stoneywood.

The application is an amendment to the original planning permission granted in 2012 and provides an additional 23 units to the 175 units approved under the original planning permission.
The online documents stated: “Three of the homes are defined as ‘affordable.’ The development proposals include earthworks, a drainage strategy and landscaping proposals, in addition to the 123 units, all served by a new road network.
"The proposed access to the application site is via the existing road network constructed to service previously delivered residential development at Carrongrove, a former industrial site, comprising of the historical Carrongrove Paper Mill.
"The proposed development is described as including a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced properties with parking provided in the form of private drives to the front and side of dwellings, as well as a mix of detached and integral garages.
"Additional visitor parking bays and disabled parking bays are located throughout the site. All parking has been designed in accordance with Falkirk Council Design Guidance.
"In addition, the proposed units have also been arranged on a north-east to south-west axis which to maximise solar gain.”
