Memorial to be unveiled for Falkirk serviceman, 19, who died following explosion

A teenage soldier who tragically died following an explosion during a military training operation is to have a permanent memorial in his home village.

Private David Carson, 19, died from July 1989 from carbon monoxide poisoning alongside two other servicemen on July 21, 1989, at the Kineton camp in Warwickshire.

David, from California, was serving with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps at the time.

Now, 37 years later, a memorial will unveiled in his honour at California Primary School at a special ceremony, organised by ASA Scotland Charity, at 2pm on Friday, November 6.

The memorial will provide a permanent place for David’s name and story to be remembered — not only by those who knew him, but by future generations.
