Travelling Gallery’s free art exhibition comes to Falkirk
A mobile art exhibition is due to wheel into Falkirk this weekend.
Travelling Gallery’s User Interface: Coded Craft will be making two pit stops in the area on Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19.
The bus’s autumn programme will be visiting Callendar House and Helix Park over the weekend to showcase work from contemporary craft artists and makers.
The free exhibition will run from 10am to 4pm.
The work on display toes the line between digital technology and traditional handcraft as artists use technology to broaden their practices.
Artworks in the gallery have a shared focus which looks at how contemporary craft can play an important role in working towards ecological innovation for a more sustainable future.
Travelling Gallery was founded in 1978 and since then the not for profit organisation has been bringing contemporary art galleries and exhibitions to communities across the country. Their experimental, diverse, and inclusive exhibitions reflect Scotland’s changing population and lead to conversation and healthy discussion.
The Travelling Gallery gives young artists an opportunity to exhibit their pieces alongside established artists, helping nurture and develop their growing talent.
To allow everyone to access their art, the exhibition is free and the bus offers street level and/or ramp access, a hearing loop, subtitles or transcripts of films, and large print formats.
Artists Jeni Allison, Naomi Mcintosh, Lynne MacLachlan, Liu Qiwei, Aymeric Renound, Soorin Shin, Sanne Visser, Silvia Weidenbach, and Sandra Wilson will have their work on show in the gallery.
The event is open to everyone and those wishing to come along should just show up on the day, no booking required.
