Falkirk families encouraged to grab a paintbrush and join art therapy programme

Falkirk families raising neurodiverse children are being invited to pick up a paintbrush and put down the pressure, following the launch of a free art therapy programme.

Art Wise Falkirk, run by Impact Arts, is launching a Neurodiverse Families Group for parents and carers of primary school-aged children with suspected or diagnosed neurodivergence.

The free sessions will be taking place every Friday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at The Braes Children and Families Centre in Maddiston.

Led by qualified art therapists, the programme is designed to give families a supportive space to explore creativity together while building a better understanding of their child's needs.

Organisers say all materials and snacks will be provided free of charge, and travel expenses will also be covered, removing potential barriers for families from the local area who are keen to take part.

The sessions aim to offer parenting support alongside art activities suitable for all abilities, while also strengthening family bonds through shared creative experiences.

Backed by Falkirk Council and the Scottish Government, the programme reflects growing recognition of the added value of therapeutic art-based activities and interventions for neurodiverse families.

Impact Arts has a track record of delivering creative wellbeing projects across communities, and the new group adds to its offering in the Falkirk area.
