Dog rescue group to hold Climb the Kelpies event in fundraising effort
An animal charity is gearing up for a full day of activities at the Kelpies to raise funds.
Boxer Welfare Scotland will be hosting a day of activities at the Kelpies on Sunday, September 20. Attendees have the chance to scale the Kelpies in groups of eight and can choose to abseil or free fall 25 meters back to the ground.

Currently, the charity needs eight more people to sign up ahead of the event. Registration is £50 and they ask for participants to raise a minimum of £100, which has been cut from the previous minimum of £200 due to time constraints for those signing up later.
The event will run from 8am to 5pm, and each climb should take around 45 minutes to complete.
Funds raised will help the charity cover vet and transport costs associated with their rescue efforts.
The charity is partnered with three Pets at Home stores, and ten staff from the stores will be taking part in the climb.
Operating since 2005, the charity rescues boxers and other bull breeds such as bulldogs, French bulldogs, and pocket bullies. They are the only registered boxer rescue in Scotland, and have now widened their net to help save dogs in England too.
Dogs found without a chip, or those whose chip owners can’t be contacted, are no longer allowed to be rehomed to the public in England and instead have to go through a rescue. If a rescue can’t take the dogs, they are automatically destroyed.
Times have been tough for the charity financially as last month they paid more than £8,000 in vet fees alone, and for any dogs rescued in England they must also cover transport costs.
Boxer Welfare Scotland currently have six dogs in foster care and are seeking people looking to welcome a pooch into their forever home.
Alongside adoptions, the charity is looking for donations they could use for raffle prizes such as teddy bears or soft toys.
