The Fratelli's announce cancelled gig days before Falkirk's next Kelpies Live concerts

Music fans have been left disappointed as The Fratelli’s announced the cancellation of their Falkirk gig just days before it was to take place.

The band had been due to play the town’s Helix Park on Friday night as part of the Kelpies Live concert series.

However, in a post on social media on Tuesday, the band said: “It is with regret that The Fratellis forthcoming performance at Helix Park, Falkirk on Friday 4th September has now been cancelled. “Unfortunately the promoters have been unable to fulfill their commitments to the band to perform and they have had to therefore take the decision not to appear at the event.”

The Fratelli’s had been due to open a weekend of concerts in the park – famous for being the Home of the Kelpies – following on from the success of the Kelpies Live gigs earlier this summer.

The one-off show had been set to mark 20 years of Costello Music, the band’s defining debut album.

In June, thousands headed to the park – famous for being the Home of the Kelpies – to enjoy live music from acts including Madness, Faithless, The Kooks and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. There was also a special Ministry of Sound Classical performance too.

Hot on the heels of the earlier summer gigs, organisers XFP Productions had lined up another weekend of concerts at the outdoor venue for this first weekend in September.

Despite the Friday night cancellation, the weekend’s other two gigs – Beluga Lagoon and James Morrison – are expected to go ahead.

On Saturday, September 5, Beluga Lagoon perform their biggest headline show to date with very special guest Dougie MacLean.

Beluga Lagoon is the musical project of Andrew O’Donnell, a wildlife cameraman and filmmaker whose music encapsulates the beauty of the Scottish landscape.

His ability to express the essence of Scotland’s natural wonders through music has garnered him a dedicated following as his songs evoke feelings and memories of wandering through glens, sitting by rivers or being out at sea.

The final concert of the weekend will see James Morrison entertain the crowds on Sunday, September 6.

As one of the UK’s most distinctive singer-songwriters, James will perform songs from his multi-platinum debut album Undiscovered, which celebrates 20 years this year.

Audiences can expect to hear his timeless hits including You Give Me Something, Wonderful World and The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore, alongside a selection of fan favourites from across his musical career.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
