Signs Express Fury return to action this weekend as senior men face top opposition
Signs Express Fury get their 2026-27 season underway this weekend with a series of high-profile games against Scottish rivals Boroughmuir Blaze, while the Senior Men also begin their British Trophy campaign with a trip to Halifax.
The action starts on Friday evening at Grangemouth Sports Centre, where Fury’s Senior Men, fresh from winning the Scottish League, Cup and Play-Offs last season, face Blaze at 7.50pm.
The two clubs will meet six times across Friday and Saturday, with the Senior Men then heading south on Sunday to take on Yorkshire Dragons in their opening BCB British Trophy group game. Dragons defeated Fury in last season’s Trophy semi-final, setting up another difficult challenge after two games in three days and a lengthy road trip.
Head coach John Bunyan has retained his squad for the new campaign, with exciting forward Matt Naylor joining the Scottish set-up and former Rocks player Fergus Harte added for the BCB competition.

Fury have plenty of firepower in their backcourt, with former Rocks and Gladiators players Jonny Bunyan and Bantu Burroughs joined by Lithuanian Eddie Leginas and Harte. Former professional Gladiator Prince Onwas will also be a key player, with his ability to operate across several positions expected to be important throughout the season.
The inside game is equally strong, with former professionals Ali Fraser and Murray Hendry providing scoring threats both inside and from the perimeter. Ziggy Dauksas and Adnan Jalil add further strength in the forward positions, while Jack Hencher returns fully fit to boost the options. Americans Javon Daniels and Yves J Ndongala will also provide important depth from the bench.
Fury will fly the flag for Scottish basketball in the BCB this season, with Blaze not taking part. The competition features 20 clubs, including 18 of England’s top sides, one Welsh club and Fury.
After Sunday’s trip to Halifax, Fury will host Newcastle and Nottingham at Grangemouth Sports Centre on September 12 and 26, with both games tipping off at 2pm. They will also travel to Derby on September 19.
There is plenty more to look forward to locally, with Fury and Blaze both among the leading contenders for Scottish Division 1 honours.
Saturday’s U18 Junior Men’s clash at Grangemouth Sports Centre at 2.20pm is one of the weekend’s standout fixtures, with both teams featuring international players and experienced coaches Keith Bunyan and Alan Keane. Before that game, Fury Cadet Men will also face Blaze, providing another showcase for some of Scotland’s emerging talent.
There will be three Fury-Blaze encounters at the Crags Sports Centre in Edinburgh, with the U16 Women meeting at 12.20pm, the Junior Women at 2.20pm and the Senior Women at 4.20pm. All three games promise competitive match-ups between strong squads.
Fury will have 16 teams competing during the 2026-27 season and remain one of only a small number of Scottish clubs competing in all eight Division 1 leagues. These include Senior Men and Women, U18 Junior Men and Women, U16 Cadet Men and Women, and U14 Boys and Girls.
The club will also field second teams in the Lothian League Division 1 at Senior Men and Women, U18 Men and U14 Boys level. U12 Boys and Girls and U10 squads will compete nationally, while the Women’s Come and Play group will take part in friendly fixtures.
Spectators are welcome at all Fury-Blaze games this weekend, both home and away, as the club begins another ambitious season on the court.
