Masters lead the medal charge for Falkirk Victoria Harriers at championships
Falkirk Victoria Harriers enjoyed a busy and successful weekend at Grangemouth Stadium last month as athletes competed in the Combined Events and Masters Championships, bringing home a strong collection of medals and recording some excellent performances.
The Masters athletes led the medal charge, with Brendan Lynch producing an outstanding weekend in the M75 category.
Lynch claimed gold in both the javelin with 25.04m and the 100m, where he clocked 16.04.
Lorna Brown also enjoyed a fine championship in the W55 category, winning gold in both the discus with 29.79m and hammer with 33.50m.

Helen Koch added W45 discus gold with 22.88m and silver in the shot put with 6.93m.
On the track, Karen McAllister won the W65 1500m in 6:40.33, while Fiona Mathieson took gold in the W65 5000m in 19:31.79.
Silver medals went to Enoch Adeyemi in the M40 long jump with 4.64m, Gary Brown in the M55 400m in 1:04.50 and Grant Mathieson in the M60 5000m in 19:42.41.
Joshua Onatoye completed the Masters results with bronze in the M40 100m in 12.53.
The younger Harriers tackled the demanding Combined Events programme, competing in decathlon, heptathlon and pentathlon events.
In the U18 decathlon, Callan Campbell produced several encouraging performances, finishing second in the 100m in 11.58 and the 100m hurdles in 15.95.
He also recorded a 6.02m long jump, cleared 2.61m in the pole vault and threw 26.98m in the javelin.
Unfortunately, an invalid discus and being unable to start the 1500m meant he finished as a DNF, but there were plenty of positives to take from the competition.
Jorjey Dooley finished fourth in the U18 heptathlon with 3,722 points.
She won the long jump with 5.39m, was second in the high jump with 1.57m and third in the 200m in 26.80, before running 2:42.67 in the 800m.
Kirsty Moffat also finished fourth in the U16 heptathlon with 3,934 points, winning the long jump with 5.03m and finishing third in both the 150m in 19.47 and 80m hurdles in 12.37.
Freya McMartin finished 16th with 2,863 points but enjoyed two event wins, taking the shot put with 9.01m and javelin with an impressive 31.18m.
She also recorded 17.09 in the hurdles, 1.27m high jump, 21.93 150m, 4.05m long jump and 2:09.30 600m.
In the U14 pentathlon, Hugo Koch finished seventh with 1,517 points, recording 15.26 in the hurdles, 6.71m shot put, 4.41m long jump, 1.33m high jump and 2:46.19 in the 800m.
Patrick McAtarsney also competed, recording 15.62 in the hurdles, 6.23m shot put, 3.78m long jump and 1.21m high jump, although he was unable to contest the 800m.
Overall, it was a rewarding weekend for the Harriers, with medals for the Masters athletes and valuable experience for the younger competitors in the challenging world of Combined Events.
