Falkirk Rugby Club’s senior XV suffered late heartbreak in their Arnold Clark National League Division 2 opener last Saturday.

The Sunnyside team, managed by head coach Graeme Simpson, welcomed Highland to Horne Park hoping to get off to a winning start, and get one over the Inverness outfit – who picked up two wins last term against Falkirk.

But it ended off in a similar story to last season’s home fixture, with Highland edging out a victory. And it was a last-minute penalty for the visitors that sealed a 38-37 win.

Falkirk’s second XV meanwhile enjoyed a strong start to their Arnold Clark Caledonia Region League Division 2 campaign, winning 57-30 away to Kinross.

Next up for the first XV is a tough trip to Newton Stewart this Saturday. The second XV host Glenrothes in their league fixture.
