With this year’s theme, “Age is Just a Number – Inclusion, Wellbeing, Positivity,” the free event aims to celebrate older people within our communities while highlighting the wealth of support, advice and opportunities available to help them live happy, healthy and independent lives.

Now firmly established as an annual event in Falkirk’s calendar, Older People’s Day brings together a wide range of organisations and services under one roof, offering visitors the opportunity to speak directly with knowledgeable professionals, access practical advice and discover ways to stay active, connected and supported.

Among the organisations attending this year are Solicitors for Older People, Citizens Advice, Trading Standards, Hospital 2 Home, Falkirk Council’s Welfare Benefits Service and Braveheart, alongside many more organisations offering valuable information and guidance.

From understanding legal rights and accessing financial support to protecting yourself from scams, improving wellbeing and discovering community services, the event provides a welcoming and informal environment where visitors can ask questions, seek advice and explore the support available locally.

The event also aims to challenge perceptions of ageing, recognising that growing older should not mean becoming less involved in community life. By promoting inclusion, wellbeing and positivity, the Older People’s Network hopes to encourage more people to remain engaged, confident and connected.

David Paterson, Chair of the Older People’s Network, said: “The importance of bringing organisations together, ensuring older people know what support is available, and encouraging everyone to come along and make the most of the day."

Whether you are looking for information for yourself, supporting an older family member or simply interested in discovering what is available in your community, Older People’s Day offers something for everyone.

Admission is completely free, with no booking required. Everyone is welcome to drop in at any time between 10am and 2pm.

The Older People’s Network would like to thank Braveheart for hosting the event and Falkirk Delivers and CVS Falkirk & District for their continued support .
