A total of 362 participants took part in the annual Strathcarron Hospice 10K, setting off from Denny High School in crisp, autumnal conditions.

The funds, which are still rolling in, will go towards the charity's vital support services for palliative care patients and their families across the local community.

Ben Upfold took first place overall with a time of 34 minutes and 11 seconds, securing a triple victory by also claiming the Paul Canavan Memorial Cup and the Schools Shield.

Many participants took on the challenge in memory of loved ones. Falkirk local Rachel Carswell led a team of family and friends affectionately named "Shaz’s Pineapples" to thank the hospice for supporting her mother and grandmother at the end of their lives. Meanwhile, returning runner Muriel Hanlon completed the route in memory of her brother-in-law, Andrew.

Claire Kennedy, corporate fundraiser for Strathcarron Hospice, said: "We massively appreciate everyone who took part and to those who made the event possible.

"We couldn't hold events like this without the support from our local community, so a special thanks must go to all of our runners, incredible marshals who kept spirits high around the route, our staff and volunteers."

The event, which was also completed virtually by some supporters, was backed by main sponsor Western Toyota Stirling, alongside Falkirk Council, Police Scotland and various local community businesses.
