Praise for pickers: Hundreds of Falkirk folk help clean up streets over last six weeks

Organisers of the Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) Spring Clean initiative had heaped praise on the 800 or so people who took part and helped the charity fill almost 47,000 bags of litter across Scotland.

According to KSB, 53 clean ups took place across the Falkirk area during a six-week period, with 775 people doing their bit to collect some of the 309 of tonnes of litter bagged in total throughout Scotland.

Barry Fisher, chief Executive at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people in Falkirk got involved, showing their commitment to tackling the litter which is polluting their community and our environment.

"Almost 35,000 people registered their activity this year, but we know there are thousands more who do their bit every day. So while we’re celebrating the people who took part in #SpringCleanScotland 2026, I’d also like to extend our gratitude to every person who has made an effort to clean up their part of Scotland.”
