Council post final verdict on Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme
Falkirk Council has given its final formal backing to the massive multi-million pound Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme.
Households at addresses on land within the Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme that could be affected by flooding and would benefit from flood protection will be
receiving letters from Falkirk Council on its final decision in respect of the scheme.
Councillors actually took the final decision to confirm the scheme on September 17 after considering a report on its environmental impact and the findings of an

independent hearing into justifications for the scheme and any objections raised.
The council is now required by law to publish the notice and notify affected property owners and occupiers.
Anyone affected by the scheme will have six weeks from the date the notice is published to appeal the council’s decision-making process.
If no appeals are lodged within the six weeks, the scheme will become operative, giving the council powers to construct the scheme in the future, with Scottish Ministers asked to grant planning permission for developments.
Following completion of the notification process, officers will begin to develop detailed designs for the first section of defences. Construction of the scheme will be
divided into smaller packages of work over several years as budgets are made available to complete individual phases.
On completion, it is hoped the scheme will reduce the risk of flooding to 3960 residential, community and business properties in the communities of Grangemouth,
Wholeflats, Glensburgh, Langlees, Carron, Carronshore and parts of Stirling Road in Camelon from both coastal and river flooding.
