Signs Express Fury star Taylan Ertekin makes Caledonia Gladiators debut
Signs Express Fury Junior Men’s player Taylan Ertekin has taken an exciting step forward in his basketball career after making his first appearance in a professional British Super League game.
The 17-year-old came off the bench for Caledonia Gladiators in their SLB fixture against Newcastle Eagles, marking his first taste of action at professional level.

Taylan has been part of the Falkirk club’s basketball programme since playing at under-12 level and has progressed through the various age groups, developing into a talented young player. Although his time on court against Newcastle was brief, the appearance was a significant milestone and a reward for the hard work and commitment he has shown throughout his development. The former Larbert High School pupil can now look back on making his professional debut at just 17 years of age.
Like several of his Fury Junior team-mates, Taylan also represents Caledonia Blues, who compete in Scottish League Division 1. Playing at that level provides further valuable experience and gives young players the opportunity to continue developing their game against senior opposition.
Fury continue to enjoy a strong relationship with Scotland’s professional basketball set-up, a connection which stretches back to the formation of Edinburgh Rocks in 1998 and has continued through the club’s transition to its current identity as Caledonia Gladiators.
Over the years, that relationship has involved both players and coaches and has helped create a pathway from grassroots basketball in Scotland through to the professional game. Taylan’s appearance is another example of how that connection can provide opportunities for young players to take the next step in their basketball journey.
