"We spoke about it after the Cove game as well, needing a desire to go and work hard and again we never showed that.

“Yes we’re missing five or six main players who would start the game but it’s no excuse, that’s why you have a squad.

"We had a meeting on Sunday where we went over the Cove game and it seemed like a good meeting with a good reaction but this performance shows that was just lip service because there’s been no reaction at all which puts us now second in the league which is probably what we deserve on our past performances.”

When questioned if he felt he and Lee Miller were still the right men for the job, with calls for them to go increasing amongst the fanbase, McCracken said: “There’s no reason why they (the fans) shouldn’t be asking that.

"It’s been a freefall from where we were at the start of the second lockdown to where we are now.

"That's their opinion and they have a position and a right to vent that because of the way we’re performing and I wouldn’t disagree with it.

"At the same time we have a job to do until we don’t have and we’ll keep going at it and pushing on.”
