John McGlynn hails Derby County loanee after attacker is Falkirk matchwinner against Hearts.
John McGlynn lauded Falkirk matchwinner Owen Eames as the type of player he ‘loves to work with’ after the Derby County starlet earned the Bairns a maiden Scottish Premiership victory.
Goals in each half from midfielder Ben Krauhaus - on loan from Brentford - and attacker Eames secured an impressive 2-1 win against Hearts on Tuesday night at home, with that success ending the Jambos’ nine-match unbeaten run.
Forward James Wilson poked home a leveller for the Tynecastle side after Krauhaus’ early opener, but McGlynn’s side enjoyed a strong second half and got a deserved winner after 68 minutes when Eames calmly finished via the post.
And Falkirk now sit 10th in the top flight, just three points off fifth-placed Motherwell ahead of Saturday’s trip to St Johnstone before the international break.

Praising Eames’ performance, boss McGlynn beamed: “The boy’s got a lot of confidence. He’s been very impressive since the first day he came in and trained. When you come up here as a loan player the first thing you have to do is gain the trust of your team-mates and he got it immediately. They love him.
“When we looked at him, his work rate, tenacity, intensity and pressing just hit you in the face. I love that kind of player, I can live with 11 of them all day long. He’s honest as the day is long.
“He puts everything into it. But he’s better than that. He’s got the ability to wriggle past players like he did in the first half. He missed a big chance but he has the Niagara’s to go again. And it was a brilliant goal.”
After finally picking up three points on league duty, McGlynn added: “It’s the monkey off our back. It’s been six games coming. The fixture list hasn’t been very kind to us.
“I am delighted for the players for how they went about tonight. You have to work so hard to get any result in this league and they did that. We scored a great goal to take the lead. It’s a great ball from Brad Spencer for Ryan Strain, who is so eager to get forward.
“The composure to make the pass and for Ben to score is impressive. The goal we conceded was frustrating. We have to intercept that ball. Liam Henderson has to get to the other side of James Wilson. We’ve spoken and looked at this... he was on the wrong side again.
“It was nip and tuck at 1-1. Second half, Finley Barbrook had a great chance. Up the other end, Scott Bain has made a great save. We took over after that in terms of opportunities. We deserved the win overall.”
