Scottish Cup draw: East Stirlingshire, Bo'ness United and Dunipace learn round one ties

East Stirlingshire face a trip to West of Scotland First Division side Bonnyton Thistle in the first round proper of this season’s Scottish Cup, it has been revealed.

The first-round draw was made by former Hibs ace Paul Hanlon at Hampden Park last Sunday, with clubs from the fifth tier entering the competition at this stage alongside the winners from the third preliminary round.

And Kilmarnock-based Bonnyton were one of the 10 ten clubs to progress to make up the 60-team first round, knocking out Tam Scobbie’s Camelon Juniors in the process. They won 3-2 on home turf last Saturday and will be hoping to repeat those heroics against another Falkirk district club next month.

Callum Tapping’s Shire have enjoyed a decent start to their Scottish Lowland Football League West campaign, and they will hoping to make it to round two again this season.

Stuart Hunter’s Bo’ness United will host West of Scotland First Division in their tie, with Irvine Meadow XI set to make the visit to Newtown Park.

Dunipace also have home comforts, with Danny Smith’s side being drawn against East of Scotland Premier Division club Preston Athletic.

Ties will take place on the weekend of Saturday, October 3. One match will be selected for live television coverage by BBC Scotland.
