Falkirk mum rallies community to watch Chris Packham climate film at Dobbie Hall
A Falkirk mum is urging Larbert locals to join her at a screening of a groundbreaking documentary revealing the true scale and threat of climate change.
The People’s Emergency Briefing, which an estimated 185,000 people have watched at more than 3400 screenings, calls on the Government to host a televised emergency briefing on the climate and nature crisis.
Gillian Miller, a mum of two teenagers who lives locally, was inspired into action after attending a previous screening of the documentary in Falkirk.
Watching the film, presented by environmentalist Chris Packham, left her fearing for her children and future generations. She contacted Falkirk MSP Gary Bouse and Falkirk MP Euan Stainbank and arranged to meet them. She says both have agreed to attend the screening.
Explaining why she felt compelled to act, Gillian said: “One of my main motivations is that I know there are loads of us who are worried about the climate and nature crisis, but we don’t necessarily have the time to go and speak to our politicians about it.
“I have a vision of a hall full of people watching the film together and then having a short community discussion before asking Euan and Gary some of our questions. If Euan and Gary both go away with a strong impression that a large number of people care about this, then hopefully this will help influence the policy changes that we need.”
Scotland has faced extreme weather this year, including the Cairngorm wildfire, while parts of England remain officially in drought. The UK summer of 2026 will likely to be recorded as the warmest and driest in modern history.
Gillian said: “"For all of us living in Falkirk to face this really big challenge, first we need clear and honest information from people we can trust. Often this means someone who is not working for, or dependent on, the wealthy and powerful. Once we have that information, we can all decide what is best for our community, and then make that happen."

The screening takes place at 7pm on November 29 at Dobbie Hall, Larbert, and is recommended for those aged 16 and over.
Tickets are free, though a £3 donation is encouraged to help cover hall and equipment hire. They can be reserved online here or by emailing [email protected].
