Falkirk area golf range drives forward with new cafe and practice bays

A golf range has once again stayed out of the rough and on the fairway with Falkirk Council planners.

Forthview Golf Centre lodged an application with the local authority on April 17 looking for permission to make a number of changes and additions to Forthview Golf Range, 1 Forthview House, Airth.

The proposal included construction of a cafe, offices and golf practice pays, as well as external drainage infrastructure and associated development.

Planning officers granted permission on Friday, September 4.

Forthview Golf Centre lodged a similar planning application with Falkirk Council on August 5 last for looking for permission to upgrade and expand its facility at Forthview House, Airth.

That proposal also sought to construct a cafe, offices and more golf practice bays and permission was granted for that proposal on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

The online documents of the most recent application stated: “The latest consent was granted on December 16, 2025. This application seeks to revise both the café and golf practice bays that were consented as part of this application.

"These changes are concerned with the café proposal and the golf driving bays. The café as consented comprised of five flat roofed sectional buildings assembled on a base grillage with a low-pitched roof and entrance feature added to the basic structure.

“Forthview has lost the option to buy these units and is now wishing to construct a modern energy efficient timber frame building with exposed open trusses creating a more attractive café space.

"The new building assumes a regular pitched roof of 30 degrees matching the current buildings on site – the American Golf retail unit and its out-buildings.”

As for the practice bays, recent trends in the golf driving range market, have led Forthview to alter that proposal too.

"There has emerged a demand for a number of teaching bays which demands larger bays. The use of 360-degree cameras to analyse swing and posture necessitates more space for the cameras to operate efficiently capturing all aspects of the swing.

"Once complete, Forthview Range would be an attractive option for community use and casual tourism alike, with the local community being able to pop in for a coffee, groups could utilise the training and education/meeting facilities, and it would enhance the various opportunities for visitors to the local area.”
