Baby of the week: Oliver Kevin Douglas Henderson

Oliver Kevin Douglas Henderson was born on April 16, 2026 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital at 3.07pm, weighing 9lb 4.5oz.

Mum Emma Douglas,27, is a student nurse, and dad Andrew Henderson, also 27, is a hospitality manager. Oliver is their first baby and the family live in Hallglen.

While her pregnancy went well at the start, mum said baby was breech until the 34th week mark.

Although he wasn't due until May 5, after a scan on April 15 doctors decided it was time for Oliver to make his arrival, albeit three and a half weeks early.

Emma was told to come back the next day for a planned c-section.

However, baby Oliver spent his first 11 days in Forth Valley Royal's neo-natal unit after he developed fluid on his lungs. He was on high flow oxygen until three days before the first-time parents were able to take him home.

Mum said: “Thankfully, Andrew and I were able to stay in hospital with Oliver the entire time. We were very anxious but everyone was very supportive.

"He’s also developed a milk protein allergy and is now on prescribed milk until a solution can be found.”

The name Oliver was picked by Emma’s gran as this is her first great-grandson. The names Kevin Douglas are those of Emma’s step-dad who has been in her life since she was a few months old and she wanted to pay tribute to him.

"At Christmas we had a blue blanket embroidered with the names and gave it to him. He was very shocked but delighted and says his name will now live on.”

Oliver’s devoted grandparents are Jackie and Kevin Douglas, and Kat and Ron Henderson.

Emma and Andrew would like to thank all the neo-natal team and are particularly grateful to midwife Lynsey McGregor who they say has been a great support not only throughout the pregnancy and birth, but remains in touch with them.
