Donner goner: Signs are Trump is out after less than six months in Falkirk

A takeaway has apparently taken away its famous “Donner Trump” sign after it was put up less than six months ago.

The eatery in Maggie Woods Loan opened its doors under the humorous banner – including the catchy tagline “Making kebabs great again” – on May 11.

Back then Donner Kebab owner Mohammed Aslam revealed to The Falkirk Herald how the takeaway got its name.

"I was watching Donald Trump talking here and there on the news,” he said. “Suddently the inspiration for the takeaway’s name hit me, and stuck with me.”

Formerly Sinbad’s Chippy, the premises looks to have gone through yet another name change with signs in place for “Maggie’s Spice and Grill”.

The Falkirk Herald attempted to get to the bottom of the name change this week, but discovered the premises empty and closed – apparently going through a refit of some kind.

Reports of a tall, elderly, slightly orange skinned gentleman getting out of a black SUV surrounded by sunglasses sporting men in suits and pointing angrily at the sign, gesturing for it to be removed have since been disregarded as being pure speculation if not total fabrication.

Or in the words of the man himself, ‘fake news’.
