Lorry mad Grangemouth lad's dreams come true thanks to haulage firm

A four-year-old boy’s love of lorries regularly sees him stand outside his house and wave at truck drivers waiting for them to beep their horns in response.

Ethan Parke, who lives in the old town area of Grangemouth, is totally obsessed with all things lorry and one firm in particular holds pole position in his wee heart.

"His pops used to drive for John Mitchell Haulage,” said mum Megan Parke. “He gets upset if the drivers don’t beep at him when they pass. His Halloween costume this year was a truck driver.”

Standing outside his house come rain or shine waiting for a one of the firm’s 100 plus fleet of lorries to wheel past is one thing, but the Sacred Heart Nursery pupil was actually able to get up close to his most favourite thing in the world a few weeks ago.

Megan’s pal Eilidh Moodie works in the office at John Mitchell Haulage and she and manger Angela Martin were only too happy to arrange a tour of the facility in

Earls Road Industrial Estate, Grangemouth earlier in year, just in time for Ethan’s fourth birthday.

"He was over the moon with the tour of the offices and the yard,” said Megan. “They even gave him a die cast model John Mitchell Haulage truck to take away with him. I just want to thank Eilidh and Angela for all their help with this.

"We also want to thank all the drivers who beep their horn back at Ethan, it just makes his day.”

A future visit to the site has already been lined up for the lorry daft youngster.
