Grangemouth e-biker caught with over £600 of class B cannabis

An offender was riding high on cannabis when police caught up with him and then discovered he was in possession of over £600 of the class B drug.

Liam Sloss, 21, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pleaded guilty to riding an e-bike while unfit through drink or drugs and without a licence and insurance in Barleyhill, Bonnybridge, on August 29 last year.

He also admitted possession of 154 grams of cannabis worth a “street value” of £650.

The drugs possession came to light when police turned up to deal with his e-bike shenanigans.

The court heard Sloss, who had no previous convictions, had subsequently paid off the £420 fine he received at his last court appearance in March in full.

There were some views expressed that Sloss, 49 Lumley Street, Grangemouth, should be admonished because he had been off good behaviour during the last six months following the offences he committed.

However, Sheriff Craig Harris said: “That level of cannabis would not invite admonition.”

Addressing Sloss directly he added: “The sheriff who presided over the case in March dealt with those other matters with a fine, then deferred sentence on you for six months.

"You have adhered to this.”

He fined Sloss £170 to be paid at a rate of £80 per month.
