Denny-based charity holds successful clean up event
A Denny-based charity has led another successful clean up event in a bid to improve the safety and cleanliness of the area.
On Saturday, Alpha Community Action Group SCIO led a group of volunteers to tidy up Denny Library and bus stop. The team gathered seven bags worth of rubbish.

The clean up is the latest in a string of similar events held by the charity as they seek to make the local area cleaner, more welcoming, and safer. Previously, the group removed litter from Castlerankine Road playground and Gala Park.
Passers-by often stop to thank the team when they see them in action, and their work has been appreciated by residents.
Getting the area looking tidy isn’t the sole purpose of these missions, as building connections, socialising, and gaining a sense of pride in your area play a big part during clean ups.
Moses Yalley, founder and lead coordinator at Alpha Community Action Group SCIO, said: “Volunteers make a real difference. Even one hour of litter-picking helps create a cleaner town, encourages others to take pride in the area, and brings neighbours together.
“It’s also a chance to meet new people and be part of something meaningful.
"We want to make Denny cleaner, safer and more welcoming. After seeing litter build up around the library and the bus stop, we felt it was important to take action and show that the community cares about its environment.”
