Three-goal trialist from US soccer set-up Robbie Young lands deal with Lowland League hopefuls East Stirlingshire

Three goals in three games, including the winner against Falkirk has persuaded Derek Ure to snap up striker Robbie Young.

The forward notched another goal against Linlithgow Rose on Saturday in the third game of his assessment with the Lowland League club and signed shortly after.

Young (23) spent four years in America at US university Lander, where he played for the soccer side.

He was rated all-region and all-conference for the South Carolina University last season.

Returning to Scotland he hit the winner against the Bairns last Tuesday night and contributed in the Shire’s other two matches, a 2-2 draw with Camelon and Saturday’s 2-1 win at Prestonfield where Jamie Dishington was also on target.

He is the second signing in a week with former Hamilton Accies goalkeeper Ross Connolly penning a deal last weekend.

The giant goalie is a product of the SFA Performance school at Graeme High and also starred for the Lanarkshire team in the UEFA Youth Champions League.
