A “well kent” Falkirk musician’s bass pounding talents feature on a brand new song designed to propel the Scotland football team to victory in Euro 24.

Stevie Black, a former member of Falkirk legends The Ray Summers, is the bass player with the Hunter and McMustard and Mellow Party Band which has recorded Go On Yourself Scotland to spur Steve Clarke’s lads on to success in Germany.

As well as Stevie, the recording features members of Colonel Mustard and The Dijon 5, The Creative Martyrs, The Laurette’s, Gleadraich and Dumfries Community Choir – with artists coming together from all over Scotland, including Falkirk, of course, Carnoustie, Kirkcudbright, Kilwinnning, Pitlochry, Dumfries, Lochmaben, Annan, Lanark, Dennistoun, Gourock and Shawlands.

Starting off as a lament-like ballad, the song builds into a frenzied ceilidh with a chorus that could very easily become a chant in the stands of Germany football stadiums over the next few weeks.

Singer John McMustard, also the frontman for Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5, said: “The song wasn’t originally intended as a Tartan Army anthem, but as we started to collaborate with more people, the momentum just sort of grew from there which is why we wanted to release it ahead of the Euros.

"This is an anthem that guarantees a sing song any time it’s played live and we're hopeful the Tartan Army gets right behind it.”

The song is available now to download from all the usual online outlets.

Dumfries Community Choir member Maureen Farrell, 78, loves the song.

She said: “Hopefully our talented Scotland team will feel how much we believe in them.”
