As the end of the school term approaches, P7 pupils across the country are normally having fun days out, summer camps and discos.

This year, due to the coronavirus lockdown, the children’s traditional farewells to primary school have had to be cancelled.

However, staff at Low Port Primary, Linlithgow, were determined to do something for the P7 leavers and with a little help from Party at the Palace organiser John Richarson, they managed to give the pupils a live concert in the school grounds.

Local act Fraser Mclean got things started with some songs that Lewis Capaldi would be proud of and the next up were award-winning Jamie and Shoony, getting the pupils and teachers dancing, socially distantly, with a very energetic sketch.

Acting deputy head teacher Mark Wheelhouse said: “The pupils worked so hard through the year and deserved their send off today.

“It was a fantastic success and we wish all our leavers the very best for the future.”

Party and Palace organiser added: “I think the acts enjoyed it as much as the pupils but it was the dancing teachers who stole the show.”

Jamie Keira from Jamie and Shoony, said: “A few months ago we were in Australia with no plans to come home and today we’re performing at a leavers do in Linlithgow. Strange times but we loved being able to play again.”

With bubbles, cheering, singing, clapping ahead of the official year end presentations, it was a fantastic event which was enjoyed by all.
