A number of generous donations have been made to the collection, including contributions from the region’s Tesco and Morrisons stores and the Alanmart Day Care in Stenhousemuir.

Last week, we told how more than 100 jumpers had been distributed via family support centres, schools and Falkirk Council’s children’s services to those in need.

Kim Carey, service manager, said: “It was a lovely surprise to get a phone call from Liz Wilson telling us about her fundraising efforts to raise money to buy Christmas jumpers for local families.

“We were then overwhelmed when she offered to donate these to our two local Aberlour services.”

She added: “This was an amazing offer and we duly put together a wish list for 57 Christmas jumpers for the families that we work with. We were excited when our wishes came true and we were able to distribute them to our families.”

Ms Wilson, who has been championing the appeal, said: “I was ecstatic when we reached our £1000 cash target which meant that we were able to buy even more jumpers for Falkirk’s bairns in need.

People have been so amazing in supporting this appeal and I cannot express how grateful we have been to everyone involved for their generous donations of jumpers.”
