Boost for Falkirk area village as firm takes over community hall

A private company has taken over the running of a once popular community hall with the aim of turning it into a performance and events venue for hire.

The former Bothkennar Community Hall, in Newton Avenue, Skinflats, is now known as the Spectrum Venue.

The new owners stated: “We recently took over the community hall – it’s an ideal venue for sports and fitness classes, slimming groups, arts and crafts, parties and various events.

"There is a lot happening to the place in preparation for the end of COVID-19 – new sound, light and various other things to make the place as good as we possibly can.”

This is the second name change for the premises in the space of a year – at the start of 2020 it was relaunched as Bothkennar Activity Centre and had a grand opening event to allow guests to try their hand at everything from sumo wrestling to animal-handling.
