Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident in Drysdale Avenue at about 5.40pm on Monday.
The boy was treated in hospital for his injuries, which are not life-threatening.
The road was closed until around 10pm for investigations.
A police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Drysdale Avenue following a report of a crash involving a car and a nine-year-old pedestrian.
“The boy was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.”
