With this in mind we thought we’d look at which of Falkirk’s attractions are ranked highest on the popular travel website Tripadvisor – the results are occasionally surprising.
Fancy trying to tick them all off this year?
9. Tapoch Broch and Torwood Castle
Two unrelated ruins that can be seen on a woodland walk, Tapoch Broch is an Iron Age stone structure hidden, while Torwood Castle is a picturesque 16th century ruin. Trekker with Two wrote: "My kids were in awe of the broch. We spent a good hour exploring it and even saw a little deer. Then we circled around and found the castle. The woodland walk up to the broch is beautiful and it was so quiet. We felt completely alone. Recommended." Photo: Canva

11. The Mariner Centre
The lagoon-shaped pool at the Mariner Centre is particularly popular with families with young children. Deborah B wrote: "Went with three-year-old and eight-month-old. Both enjoyed the swimming area and then went to soft play after which the three-year-old enjoyed. Food was good for a soft play." Photo: Michael Gillen
12. The Tomb of Sir John De Graeme
The tomb of Sir John De Graemestands in the grounds of Falkirk Trinity Church. Sir John died in the Battle of Falkirk in 1298 whilst fighting alongside William Wallace. Paul Legate wrote: "It is believed that William Wallace carried the body of Sir John De Graeme to the Faw Kirk graveyard. The wrought iron tomb is quite distinctive and is probably the most important memorial in the churchyard. It is a fascinating tomb and is worth a visit whilst in Falkirk." Photo: Google Maps
