Coronavirus in Scotland: 50 deaths recorded in last 24 hours as 1,433 new cases are confirmed

The First Minister confirmed in her briefing today that in the last 24 hours Scotland has recorded 50 new coronavirus deaths and a total of 1,433 new confirmed cases.

Of the new cases 602 were in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area, 318 in NHS Lanarkshire, 88 were in Ayrshire and Arran and 163 new cases recorded in NHS Lothian.

The First Minister confirmed that 1,257 people were in hospital with the virus, an increase of three from the figure reported yesterday.

94 people are in intensive care with the virus, which is an increase of two from yesterday.

In total, 2,927 people have died of coronavirus in Scotland.

Since the start of the pandemic, 68,444 people have tested positive for coronavirus across the country.
