Bo’ness schoolboy Theo Bobb in hot pursuit of F1 success
Youngster Theo Bobb from Bo’ness dreams of becoming an F1 superstar and has such high potential that his school grants him a very special privilege.
When Theo isn’t on the racing track during the day, like most children his age, he’s in class, however, unlike other pupils, the talented 12-year-old is given every Wednesday afternoon off.

During the half-day away from his Bo’ness primary school, Theo trains intensely from 2pm to 8pm, and is now considered Scotland’s top young indoor cadet karter.
Inspired by Lewis Hamilton and with support from mum, Jenn, aged 42, and dad, Nik, also aged 42, talented Theo trains twice weekly in his pole position pursuit of a full time career in F1 or Le Mans endurance racing.
In the three years since the Falkirk Herald last caught up with Theo, the Scottish racing prodigy has continued on the road to success. Nik updated us on his son’s progress saying: “Theo has now moved into his own junior Rotax kart (age up to 15 years old) and in his first outing finished sixth overall, and was also ranked as the top novice in the race.”
When he turns 13 the young driver aims to begin competing on tracks around the UK, as insurance purposes currently restrict him to Scotland-only competitions.
Nik added: “This season is really getting Theo experience with his new junior kart. However he is hoping to race at Crail & Larkhall series this year plus at the Team Sport British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC).”
Alongside dad Nik, mum Jenn is vehicle mechanic and as part of the youngster’s pit team plays an integral part of Team Theo. Nik said: “It has become much more of a family effort around him as well. Jenn has stepped in as ‘Mumechanic’ and we’ve even turned the spare room into a garage.”

Undoubtedly an expensive dream, the parents have joined forces with brand partners such as local restaurant The Ashmaan, as well as others such as; creative coding school Mama.codes, online distance learning My Ed Space, Sprintlaw UK, and Edinburgh-based Shield Chiropractic.
During his pursuit of the F1 dream, Theo recently met one of his heroes, explains Nik: “One of Theo's favourite moments so far was meeting F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, which led to a 600k viral TikTok video, and is inspiring him towards the next goal of C1/Minis, and the ultimate dream of Le Mans.”
Trying to manage work, school and racing can be a lot for the family, however when they see Theo in the kart everything changes, Nik said: “Balancing everything is a challenge. However it’s all worth it when we see Theo in the kart and a smile on his face. It’s very much a family effort, Jenn as a mechanic has made a huge difference, and we just try to stay organised and keep things moving week to week.”
While in pursuit of his dreams and also enjoying his time on the track, talented youngster Theo said: “I want to keep getting better and make my dream of becoming a Le Mans Endurance driver come through.”
