The discount supermarket was given the go ahead for its proposal in Kemper Avenue.

It will demolish its current store and build on land next to it, which is currently a car park.A condition of the permission is that deliveries must not take place between 10 pm and 7 am, as residents of nearby flats had previously complained about noisy deliveries being made through the night at the current store. The store will be built on the site of the former East Bridge Tan Works, so a contaminated land assessment is another condition.

Lidl bought the land from Falkirk Council last year for £400,000.

Councillors agreed to the sale after hearing the car park was under used.

It also hopes to build a new store in Polmont if a site can be identified.
