Lidl has applied for planning permission to build a new, much larger store beside its current one in on the corner of Falkirk’s Arnot Street and Kemper Avenue.
The discount supermarket has submitted plans to Falkirk Council to build a larger store opposite the Cladhan Hotel then demolish the existing one.
Lidl bought the land from Falkirk Council last August for £400,000.

Hide AdMembers of Falkirk Council heard that five bids had been received and Lidl’s was the highest, although that was conditional on all planning permission being granted and an acceptable site survey report.
The site is very close to the Antonine Wall and close to the remains of a Roman bathhouse, which was discovered during excavations between in 1980 but this will be protected.
