PGA professional Bobby Rushford, who comes from Polmont, worked at Glenbervie Colf Course for four years and has subsequently opened the Fairways Indoor Golf Arena in Coatbridge.

Now he thinks the Falkirk area could benefit from a similar facility and he has now lodged a change of use planning application for a 3000 square foot unit in Glasgow Road, Camelon.

Bobby said: “The Falkirk area is the natural place to have another arena – it’s far enough away from Coatbridge and it’s in an area I know well. I know a lot of people who will want to come along to use the facilities.

“And with Brucefields Family Golf Centre in Stirling closing down, it may attract people from that area too.”

If he gains planning permission Bobby will create an arena with a similar set up to Coatbridge – it will house four driving range simulator bays and a teaching bay and there will also be a short game area and pitching green.

Bobby added: “We will also offer a custom fit service from leading club manufacturers and there will also be another full time PGA Professional on site for individual lessons and group coaching.

“Our main goals are to offer a unique indoor facility which can be enjoyed by serious golfers, families and those new to the game. All being well with planning we hope to open our doors in January 2021.”
