Falkirk Youth Theatre set to perform Hadestown: Teen Edition

The talented young performers, who are all between the ages of 12 and 18, will present Hades Town: Teen Edition at Grangemouth Town Hall on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8.

The teen edition is a slightly adapted version of the smash hit musical which has taken the West End and Broadway by storm.

Audiences will be taken on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back as the show intertwines two ancient Greek mythic love stores – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone.

With a rollicking folk and New Orlean jazz-infused score, Hadestown invites audiences to imagine what the world can be.

The cast of 50 senior members of Falkirk Youth Theatre have been working hard since April, learning the songs, dances and text of the show and they can’t wait to share it with audiences.

The company are the first local group to perform the title since the rights were released and they hope that locals will come along and see them tell this tale of love and loss.

Hazel Beattie, arts development officer (performing arts), said: “I was lucky enough to watch a preview run of the show and was absolutely blown away by the performances of everyone involved, I even cried at the end so bring your tissues!

"I was so impressed with the great atmosphere in the rehearsal room and how the young people all supported each other.

"Falkirk Youth Theatre is a place where all young people are welcomed and encouraged to enjoy in theatre and the performing arts.”

The whole team were delighted to receive a good luck video from the current West End cast which was very special and caused much excitement.

The show takes place on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 in Grangemouth Town Hall, with performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm each day.

Tickets are available online or by calling (01324) 506850.
