The Queen Elizabeth Field facility has been designed by Velosolutions, a global leader in pump track and trail building who recently created the World Club BMX track in Glasgow.

The six-week-long project will begin on Monday, August 31 and is spearheaded by Avonbridge and Standburn Recreational Initiative (ASRI).

Pump tracks provide ideal access to cycling for toddlers through to professional cyclists and this initiative is part of a wider plan to promote active travel across Forth Valley.

The second and third phases of the plan include the installation of new playground equipment, along with benches, picnic areas, walkways and heritage information boards.

The design will reflect the industrial heritage of the area in recognition of the importance the railway made to its development.

Grant funding is being sought from a number of funding partners and matched by Falkirk Council with the support of Falkirk Community Trust.
