Virus threat forces postponement of Supernova Kelpies event

This month’s planned Supernova Kelpies fundraiser has now been put back to November, in reaction to a call for no mass gatherings to take place of more than 500 people.

The popular 5k after-dark run had been scheduled for three days from Friday, March 20, but following advice from the First Minister aimed at meeting the threat of the Coronavirus the organisers say they had “no other option” but to postpone.

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted, however, to confirm that we have secured Frida, November 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 for the event to go ahead”.

People who have already registered to enter are being told they do not need to take any action as their entries will automatically to the new date.

The spokesperson said: “Unfortunately due to the event being postponed for reasons outside our control, we cannot offer refunds for the event.

“If you cannot make the day you currently have an entry for, we may be able to assist you to switch to an alternative date”

“Our primary concern continues to be the health and safety of all of our participants, event team and other event stakeholders.

“In the meantime, we strongly encourage you and your families to continue following the advice given by the World Health Organisation to prevent the spread of the virus.

“We very much look forward to seeing you on the start line in November”.
