Camelon Winter Festival is set to sprinkle magical moments across the area after great thought was put into ensuring the event got the go-ahead amid the nationwide tightening of coronavirus restrictions.

Organisers have vowed not to let the pandemic take the shine off the event and make this Christmas one to remember for the right reasons.

The Covid-secure celebration will be held on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13 – when Santa and his elves will swing by the village in a horse-drawn carriage to hand out gifts to children in a safe manner, with social distancing measures in place (2-6pm each day).

A large van-mounted LED screen displaying inspiring videos of local artists and performers will make its way through the streets to key locations across Camelon (from noon until 7pm each day).

Camelon’s own singer-songwriter, Dionne Hickey, will make a guest appearance to share messages of festive joy.

Plans for the festival were helped by a £9950 award from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Organisers have also used the money to buy Christmas lights which will line Main Street from Monday, November 23.

Ann Henderson, Camelon Winter Festival chairwoman, said: “This year, of all years, we’re determined to keep the Christmas spirit alive and kicking in Camelon.

“With our community centre shut, we’ll be weaving through the streets with a cinema-type screen showcasing inspiring local talent and our Santa will shower joy and goodwill from his carriage. It will be absolutely brilliant, I promise!”

Volunteers will be taking calls from November 21-29 from parents who wish to arrange for children up to the age of 12 to receive a present from Santa.
