The Helix has been awarded a Taste Our Best Award for 2018 by Visit Scotland.
Visit Scotland have now verified The Helix as a vendor who uses top quality produce and actively source ingredients locally and from throughout Scotland.
The good news comes after having recently received the five-star Visitor Attraction Award.
To celebrate, and to coincide with British Pie Week on March 5 to March 11, The Helix are making some special pies, bridies and pasties at their visitor centre cafe. All products of will be handcrafted and filled with ingredients sourced locally.
A spokesperson for The Helix said: “We are extremely proud to have been given this badge of honour because we pride ourselves in having a hearty and delicious menu which is all prepared by our in-house head chef Jason Bradshaw and his dedicated team.
“We source our meat from McLay’s Butcher, who are specialist catering butchers with over 25 years experience and highly regarded as Scotland’s premier chilled food supplier. Their beef is sourced from Ayrshire by their dedicated buying teams for maximum flavour and tenderness.
“We will have specials on all week, including our Moroccan spiced vegetable bridie.”
