Spring walk at Larbert Woods

Forest Enterprise Scotland have organised a community walk in Larbert Woods on Wednesday 14 March 14 to spot the first signs of spring.

The guided walk will take in the wildlife on the loch and give visitors the opportunity to listen to the woods as they begin to come alive with the start of spring.

Walkers will also learn the history of the site and its changes since Forth Valley Royal Hospital was created.

The free one-hour walk is designed to encourage hospital workers and the local community to head to the garden after work and enjoy some outdoor space and fresh air at the end of the working day.

Gordon Harper, community ranger at Forest Enterprise Scotland, said: “After this recent spell of bad weather, almost everyone has forgotten that it’s actually the beginning of spring.

“It’s a great time of year as it symbolises the transition between winter and summer and the blossoming of new wildlife and plants.”

“We all know the fresh air and exercise are good for us and with the first signs of spring starting to show, it’s the perfect time to start heading outside.”

If you’re interested, walkers will be meeting at Forth Valley Royal Hospital reception area from 5pm to 6pm.
