Skyscanner hails tie-up with cab booking service

Travel search engine Skyscanner has launched a partnership with a taxi price comparison app that claims it can save travellers up to 20 per cent off their fares to and from airports.

The Edinburgh-based firm, named last week as Scotland’s best large tech businessat the ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards, will enable customers to book airport transfers with Minicabit via its website.

Paul Cumins, Skyscanner’s business development manager for car hire, said: “Skyscanner welcomes the work Minicabit are doing to enhance consumer choice in the airport transfer sector.

“We are always looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience and by collaborating with Minicabit, we can now offer our customers, in addition to the best flights, hotels and car hire, the ability to search for and book the most convenient and affordable cabs to and from airports UK-wide.”

Minicabit founder and chief executive Amer Hasan added: “Both of us share the same mission to leverage technology to benefit the customer by delivering the widest choice at the best prices.

“In our case, we can serve Skyscanner’s customers with the best cab quotes to easily complete their UK trips. And if they have more specific needs, such as booking the right size car for their luggage or even their pets, we offer that too.”

The firm is aiming to generate annual revenues in the UK of £100 million by 2020.
