Magical memories of Palm Court orchestras in theatres and on radio are being revived in Falkirk next week.
These ensembles played a distinct repertoire of easy listening and portrayed a lifestyle led at a more leisurely pace than the present day.
The Salon Trio with Christine Nelson (violin), Marie Holmes (cello) and Robert Simmans (piano) will create a touch of nostalgia in the Faw Kirk in a 45-minute concert, promoted by Classic Music Live! Falkirk.
Bob Tait, of Classic Music Live!, said: “This is the ideal length of lunchtime concert to allow time for a snack in the M’eating Place Café adjoining the church before rejoining the hustle and bustle of a Friday afternoon.”
The programme will conjure up memories of live music by small ensembles in places like PT’s Edinburgh with performances of well known pieces from the world of light music.
The Salon Trio play the Faw Kirk on Friday, September 26 at noon. Admission is £5 (students £2) at the door or from the Steeple Box Office (01324 506850).
