A Polmont girl is preparing to play one of the world’s most iconic musical characters, on one of the country’s most famous stages this weekend.

Rebecca Scott will play Sandy at the Playhouse in Edinburgh this weekend as part of the Stage Experience programme.

Alongside Rebecca will be two Falkirk teenagers, Roxane Jones and Sarah Nisbest, both 13, who are part of the show’s chorus.

After just two weeks of intensive rehearsals, the girls will take to the stage this Friday and Saturday.

Fashion student Rebecca (20) first took part in the Stage Experience six years ago after hearing about the auditions through her school, Mary Erskine’s in Edinburgh.

She played her first main part last year in the production of Footloose when she had the role of Ariel.

She said: “This is my sixth show with Stage Experience, and it’s fab to be playing such an amazing part. I’m really enjoying it – it’s so intense and busy that you never get bored.

“The whole cast is great so we all bounce off each other. I’m really excited about getting on stage but nervous too. I’ve got lots of people coming to see me – I think the audience will be 50 per cent my friends and family!

“This will be my last show with Stage Experience because next summer I will be busy with projects for university. It’s been quite nice because I’ve been able to combine my degree work with the performance, by making little skirts for the show!”

‘Grease’ will be Roxane’s second show with Stage Experience, with Sarah deciding to audition this year after seeing how much her friend enjoyed it last year.

The Falkirk High pupils are members of Big Bad Wolf Children’s Theatre Company, and perform with local dance schools – Roxane with Stenhouse in Falkirk and Sarah with McKechnie in Grangemouth.

‘Grease’ is on at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Friday, July 26 at 7.30 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 at 2.30 and 7.30 p.m.

Tickets, priced £16.90 - £22.40, are available at or by calling 0844 871 3014.
